Description

From Konya, the heart of Anatolian weaving since the Seljuk era, comes this authentic hand-knotted rug. Famous for the monumental carpets that have graced mosques since the 13th century, Konya is also a vital center for the nomadic (Yörük) weaving tradition, and this piece is a perfect embodiment of that legacy.

The rug’s warm yellow field is adorned with 12 colorful octagonal medallions, creating a design that is both visually rhythmic and symbolically profound. Each medallion contains powerful Anatolian motifs, including the wolf's track (kurt izi), the ram's horn (koç boynuzu), and the wheel of fortune (çarkıfelek), representing themes of protection, the cycle of life, and power.

Its rich and inviting color palette was achieved using natural dyes derived from sources like walnut shells, root extracts, and indigo. Hand-knotted with the Turkish knot in a durable wool-on-wool construction, this rug offers not only aesthetic beauty but also a tangible sense of history. It is a masterpiece of culture and craftsmanship, ready to bring warmth and meaning to your living space.
